Christine & Aaron - e.Session

On Saturday I met up with Christine and Aaron at BDI. It was a little cold for ice cream, but I had never photographed there and I thought the bridge would look great for an e.Session. At first I was a little unsure if we would end up doing their e.Session that day as it was snowing at 9am, but by 11am it had warmed up and the sun had come out. I had a great time photographing Christine and Aaron and I am quite pleased with how the images turned out. I look forward to designing the guest book for their fall wedding.

Weddings in Winnipeg launches new Magazine

Back in March I had an exciting opportunity to photograph in the Millennium Library. Kandace from Weddings in Winnipeg came up with the brilliant idea to photograph there for some of the articles featured in the magazine. I had so much fun working with the whole crew and I know we have some amazing shots.
The dresses were provided by Rebecca, the very talented designer and owner of Cake Clothing. The jewellery was provided by Vandenbergs Fine Jewellery and the flowers were once again amazing and provided by Julie from Whyte Ridge Academy Florist.

There were obviously more images but you will have to check out the magazine to see them all.

You can subscribe to the magazine for FREE by registering on the website www.WeddingsinWinnipeg.ca

Enjoy!

Kim & Andrew - e.Session

Spring is always a busy time for e.Sessions and last week I was downtown photographing Kim & Andrew. Andrew flew into Winnipeg to help Kim pack up and move to Toronto, so we were on a bit of a time crunch. We started off in the Millenium Library and then took to the streets downtown. I had a great time and Andrew kept us laughing for the entire session. I was able to capture some great candid shots as we wrapped up our time at a Starbucks.

Look forward to the wedding this summer!

Hayley & Kevin - e.Session

The weather yesterday was amazing and I managed to take a break and enjoy it. I looked forward to Hayley & Kevin's e.Session all day, especially since we rescheduled their session on Saturday because it was snowing!
I meet up with them at Old Market Square and we walked around the Exchange photographing at several different locations. My favorite images came right at the end of the session. There was a beam of light that shone between two buildings, hitting the middle of the street. Since it was shining on the street we had to run in and out of traffic when the lights changed.

I had a wonderful time. I apologize to Kevin since he missed the Flyers game, but in the end he only missed them lose another game.

Hayley & Scott - wedding invitations

This past summer I did Hayley and Scott's e.Session at beautiful Victoria Beach. I posted a number of images from that day, but Hayley asked me not to post one section from the engagement shoot. Their plan was to surprise their guests by having an image on their invitations that represented who they are; something that nobody had seen before. Now that the invitations have been mailed, I get to share it with you.

I had so much fun with them and I can't wait for their wedding!

Events by Emma & National Meetings Industry Day '09

In the past I've had the privilege of photographing a number of tables that Emma has created, and yesterday she once again worked her magic at the Delta hotel. The table was beautiful and it was a great opportunity for her to display her new hanging tea lights, which looked amazing!
If you are looking for a wedding or event planner you must check out Events by Emma. Emma is incredibly skilled at taking that idea in your head and turning it into reality for your special day.

Strutt family session

Saturday morning I was finally able to photograph the Strutt family (Carolyn & Ronn, Megan & Kevin, and Andrew & Corey). It was great to see Megan again, as she was in the wedding party of Marion & Daniel this past summer.
With that wonderful snow storm that dumped a few more inches of snow, there were a limited number of locations that we could photograph at without it looking really dirty. So I thought it would be cool to try and photograph the family in the Exchange District. Even though I do photo shoots there quite often, I still found a few new locations that I hadn't photographed at before. They were all really pleased with the images that I showed them during the session and I'm really happy with them too.

Thanks for a great morning.

Trash the dress + Costa Rica

I was really excited about photographing a "Trash the Dress" session for Helga and Peter, especially in Costa Rica. We went to the beach just as the tide started coming in and the sun was starting to set. The waves crashing against the rocks gave us a very dramatic backdrop. The plan all along was for Helga and Peter to get wet and have fun in the water, but there was a large wave that soaked them a little sooner than we expected! Even after the sun had set, we were able to continue the shoot since I was able to get some great shots using multiple flashes to light them. I had so much fun with them and I know they loved the session.

Trash the Dress sessions can easily be done here in Winnipeg. They offer the opportunity to have a fun, creative and intimate photo shoot and most importantly for a lot of brides, you get to wear your dress a second time! If any one is interested I would be happy to set up a session for this summer. Our fresh water in Manitoba means that you just have to air dry your dress after the session, and if you are really cautious there is always the option to take it to a dry cleaner that specializes in dry cleaning wedding dresses.

Costa Rica + Helga & Peter's wedding

Months ago Helga contacted me about traveling to Costa Rica to photograph her wedding. I had heard that Costa Rica was a beautiful country so I was really excited about the opportunity to travel and photograph a wedding there.

My trip got off to a rough start as my plane had mechanical troubles in Chicago; this delay allowed me to be just late enough to watch my connecting flight take off in Newark as we landed. I had to spend the night in Newark and caught the first flight out in the morning, unfortunately cutting down my time in Costa Rica.

When I finally arrived it was great to feel the warm tropical air, especially since the day I left Winnipeg there was a crazy snow storm and it was -20C. I quickly realized that the temperature change was a little harder to deal with than I thought and the UV index was 10 every day. I know... I shouldn't complain!

At the resort I met up with Helga & Peter to finalize all their plans and ideas for the wedding. With only half a day to prep and little transportation, I was still able to find some great spots to photograph at.

The weather was beautiful for the big day and we started off with Peter and the guys. The girls got off to a bit of a late start but we still managed to get some great shots before we headed off to the ceremony. It was held right on the beach so there were serveral onlookers. At the time of the ceremony the tide started to change and a few waves made their way to Helga & Peter's feet! Afterwards, we went to a few different locations but two of my favorite images came from a set of stone stairs and a Spanish-looking home. Then we were off to the reception which was held in a covered area overlooking the beach.

You could tell Helga & Peter were so excited to be finally married and I know they will be thrilled with the images from their wedding day!

I spent the next few days at the beach and enjoying the beautiful scenery. We also did a "Trash the Dress" photo shoot and I'll share these images soon.
