Nancy & Alex - e.Session in Vancouver

Meagan and I have been glued to the Olympics just like the rest of the country. But unlike the rest of the country, I was excited to see the warm, beautiful weather throughout the first Olympic week because I knew it would be great for my upcoming e.Session with Nancy & Alex. As it turned out, all the great weather ended just as I was supposed to be heading out to Vancouver - that's usually the way it works, right? Well, it was good news for the Olympic events and our e.Session turned out beautifully anyway, so the weather didn't matter too much in the end.

Nancy and Alex live in Vancouver but will be getting married this summer in Montreal. We've been emailing and phoning back and forth over the past several months so I felt very fortunate to meet with them before the wedding and do their e.Session. I really value this time to get to know each couple personally and to build a comfort-level that will ensure the best shots possible on the day of the wedding. Plus, heading to Vancouver at the height of the Olympic fever helps a lot too!

Nancy & Alex were fabulous hosts and did a great job of showing off their adopted hometown. We started the day driving to Stanley Park but Alex made sure we drove by all the major Olympic sights and sounds on the way. It was really cool to see everything that I had been watching on TV over the last couple of weeks. The rain held off for most of the day, making our time at Stanley Park really enjoyable. We were able to stroll around and get some great shots with the city and the mountains in the background. Afterwards we did a quick wardrobe change and headed off the beach. It was so nice to be at the sand and the ocean, especially knowing that it was incredibly cold back home. Nancy and Alex were extremely comfortable and natural in front of the camera, and so much fun to photograph. On the beach there were huge tree trunks along the entire shoreline and I think the images that captured these surroundings look really beautiful and unique. With it being overcast the entire day, we had great lighting for both of the sessions.

After our first two photo shoots we grabbed lunch and headed home to watch the hockey game that any Canadian wouldn't want to miss. Once we were comfortable that the game was secure and Canada had won, we headed out to the streets of downtown Vancouver. Nancy & Alex live right in this area and it was such an awesome opportunity to walk around the city with all the Olympic spirit in full force. The rain had stopped and we were able to just relax and wander along the waterfront for some stunning evening shots with all the lights of the city. We then headed off for a really nice dinner where we were able talk and laugh about the day and start planning for their wedding in Montreal.

Thanks so much for an amazing and memorable day. You guys were wonderful hosts and made me feel right at home. Looking forward to the summer!

Meagan's birthday

On Monday it was Meagan's birthday and I had planned a very special evening. With moving twice in the last two years, renovating two houses, having our first child Aaron, and growing my business, it has been very busy. Unfortunately my romantic plans have been lacking a bit, so it was time to do something big. I called in a few favors from some friends in the wedding industry and got planning.

There were a lot of people involved to pull this evening off and so I have to thank them all. Emma (Events by Emma) and her girls did a spectacular job setting up the whole room and did way more than I ever expected. She even took care of the flowers and called Deb (Floral Elements), who did a gorgeous job with the flowers. Don (McNeill Media Creations) bailed me out by finally getting our wedding video on DVD, which Meagan has been asking for for the last four years. Both my parents and Meagan's parents took care of Aaron at different times so that this evening could all come together. My brother-in-law Tyler was willing to pick up dinner and deliver it just as we arrived. Last but not least, Krista (Photos by Krista) and the whole gang at the studio were generous enough to allow me to use their space and set up this beautiful evening for two with no interruptions. One person that I originally forgot to mention was Kylee from Planned Perfectly who supplied all the linens and chair covers.

Meagan was completely surprised and we are so thankful for everyone who helped in making this evening possible.

Events by Emma & the wedding show

I have known Emma for a couple of years now and she still amazes me with her designs. She does not settle for just good enough, she always goes the extra mile. So it was no surprise that at the wedding show her booth was spectacular. Here are a few images of her booth and if you want more information about Emma and what she does, check out here website @ www.eventsbyemma.com

Four Points & Madeline's wedding show

This past weekend I was honoured to take part in another wedding show. The event was held at the new Four Points Sheraton South, the decorating was all done by Madeline's event planning and all the flowers where provided by Whyte Ridge Academy Florist. There was a great turnout and everyone had a great afternoon.
